Should I add clay balls at the bottom of the pot?
NO! You may sometimes find the recommendation to add clay balls to the bottom of your pot for 'drainage', however, we strongly recommend against this.

If you add clay balls to your planter, instead of using a pot with drainage holes, you essentially create a water reservoir beneath your plant's soil.
This keeps the roots of your plant exposed to water continuously, which will quickly lead to root rot.

Instead, simply use a pot that has drainage holes to allow excess water to drain from the pot!

Origin of our Clay Balls

To produce Clay Balls, gas is used, which means it's not the most sustainable product.
However, we try and cut our impact by sourcing close to the Netherlands. Our Clay Balls are mined and produced in Belgium, right next to The Netherlands where we ship from.
Most suppliers source their Clay Balls from Denmark or North Germany. But we try and keep our supply chain as short as possible.
